A revista japonesa Famistu sempre divulga as vendas semanais de jogos físicos no Japão e 2020 foi um ano em que Animal Crossing: New Horizons dominou as listas, por isso quando a revista divulgou a lista dos 100 jogos mais vendidos durante todo o ano de 2020, não foi surpresa ver o jogo de Tom Nook liderando.
As 10 primeiras posições são praticamente todos jogos de Nintendo Switch, o console que está fazendo ainda muito sucesso mesmo com a chegada da nova geração com PlayStation 5 e Xbox Series, exceto por Final Fantasy VII Remake de PlayStation 4 que atinge a quarta posição no ranking.
